This did take me a while to complete.After seeing Amanda Halls LO in the latest SM[which I loved], I was inspired to use the banner style ends on the strips.[is that what its called?Im sure it has a name but I dont know what...see thats how long its been since Ive been into scrapping!]lol

I also used ink [yes sandra I did], and stamped onto the tag, using my script stamp which was given to me by my lovely friend Janice.[Thanks Janice].Scrapbooking has allowed me to make some lovely friends, and while searching through my scrap gear I so often come across bits and pieces that are gifts from friends.Its a nice feeling.

so time must fly beacause its been 2 whole months since I posted.Like everyone else we all seem to use FB more than anything these days,.
Anyway so in the last 2 months whats been happening is=
we finally got to move into our house, at long last!!We're slowly getting things done to the house, got our front deck almost finished, and just about to get the back deck started.Lots of other jobs to do, but will take a bit of time.
Managed to clean our shed up and have found my scrap gear, cobwebs and all.Hopefully once school is back and things get back into some sort of routine, Ill get the time and motivation to get back into scrapping.
My bradley graduated form yr 12, and got accepted into uni....in Darwin :( He is going to defer for a year so I dont have to say goodbye just yet.

We managed a quick trip over to see my brother and his family in Victor Harbor at new year for a few days, which was good, although I did have a husband with tooth trouble, which wasnt much fun for him., and meant we didnt get as much of a look around as planned, but the beaches sure were busy over there.
We're back off to adelaide soon for a day at the cricket and for brad to have an ankle reconstruction, then home in time for school to start monday, and back into some routine.

just life and whats been happening

So as most of you would know we have a new house, its just not ours yet.It arrived on 22nd september, but we were waiting to have a verandah attached, contracted through the house company as well, which has taken some time to get finished as the job is contracted to another builder.Anyway to cut a long story short its taken some time, and has been some delays.
So with a few hassles there Its taken a bit of the excitement out of having a new house.The verandah was completed finally on friday, and we are just waiting on it to be painted and then hopefully we just may be able to have handover, only 2 months after our house turned up.Im not quite sure about how well its turned out but guess we're at a stage where we cant be bothered anymore, we just want to move on and move in.
We are also having to wait a long time to get power connected, we have gone from an over 3month wait,which was going to be 29th december, to hopefully 29th November.[Fingers crossed].
Even though its been frustrating and dissappointing, Im still aware that in the grand scheme of life these are minor things, and as Friday was Remembrence Day, Im still so grateful and thankful that theres lots of other positives in my life too.

In the meantime, we've been planting some new plants, and Ive been slowly amassing a stash of goodies for the new house.

I ordered this picture from Big w on canvas in a large size, and I just love it,even though technically its all wrong,with crooked horizon and all, and yes I know i can fix it by straightening it, but I love it how it is.

I was relly impressed with big w, not just the quality of it, but I ordered this on a tuesday, and it arrived the following tuesday, and postage was reasonable too at $9.95.

I am also proud of my 2nd baby boy, who is completeing his year 12, or technically has [almost], and within a few day of his last exam, has also started working already.Im really proud of his work ethic, hes always had a part time job from the age of 14, and is keen to work and start saving some money.

One of his subjects this year was art, and for one of his major pieces, was a pen drawing of himself, which started with some photos he got me to take of him.His work was marked by the moderator on Wednesday and his drawing of himself was selected to be exhibited in Adelaide.Im guessing its for yr 12 Artwork, but Ill have to find out more from his art teacher as brads pretty casual about it, and didnt ask.I will have to take a photo of his work and post later.

So thats about it for now.

Its been ages since Ive blogged, not much to blog about really, not doing anything crafty, as still renting and most of my scrap crap is in our shed, and gosh I avoid there, just stacked with so much crap.
Our house has been delivered but a holdup there as we got a verandah in our contract, and theres been a few hiccups with that.Wont bore you with the details!

I have been trying not to buy much for the house as yet, until were actually in it, but I did spy this mangowood carved picture in The Bayroom and it was instant love!I was going to not have red but alas, I could not resist this.I did try to source it in another color but could not get the same print, so looks like red it is.

Ok, well Im off to have a look at some blogs now as Its been such a long time since Ive had a look at any.

we saw our old house go, and luckily it could go, as the weather was terribly wet.The house removal started on the monday, then we had a bit of rain then by wednesday morning it was very very wet and the truck ended up being bogged and required a bit of help to get out.

I have to say I didnt think Id be bothered when the house went, but I confess to coming home and having a bawl, just lots of memories of the kids [and us] growing up there.

We also went and had a look at our new house Friday,The exterior is done and roof and floor, but the internal walls are just frames at this stage.I was really worried about the house being too small, I had originally planned on it being bigger, but due to our dicky shaped block,[ which is on a bend in the road and is really wide across the front and narrower at the back],and also our council regulations, I had to cut back on the length of the house.It looks okay though, I found the interior rooms a bit hard to judge the size of as the walls werent up yet.Im hoping it will all be ok.I am really happy with the colors we have picked.

Ive been quite into all these renovating shows lately.I love watching the Block, although I do get annoyed with all the drama and challenges etc, but I really do like seeing the room renovations.I ve also watched the renovaters show which started last night too, and again I get annoyed with parts of the show, but I like seeing the different designs etc.Ive been spending most of my time on the net browsing house stuff etc.

I havnt been blogging or scrapping for a little while, I have instead, been spending a lot of my time trawling the www and chatting on forums where Ive been looking at home designs, researching house colors, paint colors, kitchen materials, flooring options, air conditioning, insulation etc etc.
The reason for this is because after much consideration, we have decided to purchase a new house.
Our house is being transported elsewhere, and we will be getting a new transportable house.We have had our plans drawn up and made all our selections [oh lordy, that part was hard, do you have any idea how many different white paints there are?].
So the next few months will be a little, well maybe more like a LOT crazy, with getting our house ready to be moved,the packing up and moving part, finding somewhere else to live for a short period, and all the things that we need to do before our new house arrives.I am a little excited about it, but mostly a bit anxious about it all.I will just be relieved when its all done, so wish I could just fast forward a few months.
So heres hoping by october we will have our new home and be all settled in.[fingers crossed].

Although I have been distracted from scrapping etc, with house stuff, I did have an idea for a page, and I wanted to find a brush of a chook/chick for the layout.I ended up doing a whole digital page.Just for a bit of a play.

Not much to write about really, and Ive hardly taken any photos lately either, but I do have a couple of pics to share.I have a newer version of photoshop on my laptop now and while its very similar it is a little bit different so I havnt played as much.Im a bit like that Im afraid.

So I we did start footy on the weekend which I didnt enjoy at all.Must say I would much rather netball any day!but I did get a few pics, nothing great, I really feel like I need to learn to know my camera better and then I would get some better results, but I again Im a bit lazy in that regard.

Some photos from our work show at the kimba cup a little while back, where it rained all day, and by the end of the day you just walked around in the rain and mud and puddles and didnt really matter by then as we were all a little wet and bedraggled[and a little sloshed as well, as their were no horses running, so just lots of eating and drinking].

Life has been so busy lately, I really havnt had time to scrap or much else.
My boys have always played football, basketball and cricket most of the seasons, but nick and brad have also been playing mixed netball in port lincoln on tuesday nights.At the beginning of the season they were quite comical to watch as many of the guys in the team had never played netball before or had only played in PE at school.They have improved heaps and have ended up 2nd on the ladder I think, and made it to finals.

The boys really enjoy playing netty, and I enjoy watching them play too, so much better than footy and basketball, less worry about someone getting hurt, and I actually understand the game!
Tried to get some shots tuesday night while I was scoring so pretty random snapping, also I have a bit of trouble getting decent shots in the stadium.

its been a while since Ive blogged, mostly due to the fact that our modem packed it in, but were all sorted now.Not much to blog about, but I did manage to lug my camera around for the kids sportsday yesterday, although I did manage more photos of brad than jaxen, not intentionally though, just because I was the parent in charge of brads group.I think our school runs a pretty fun sports day, where the kids are all encouraged to participate, but I think the kids get more excited about the dressing up part.There sure were some wild and crazy costumes.

do you remember when I first got my little green machine @ 18 months ago? I remember loving it but my sons not so!Its just not a cool car for teen boys.......actually I recall brad actually ducking down in the backseat one day so his mates didnt see him in it.lol
anyways dont things change, as brad has recently got his Ps, and guess who today wanted to use his moms "not cool" car to zip to lincoln in....... he even says its really good to drive in lincoln, easy to drive around and park etc.

My oh my.....I did worry about my little car getting home safe and sound...oh and brad too of course.

One of my NY resolutions was to start using my camera again.I use it a lot during football season, mostly taking footy photos, but not much else lately.It has been sitting in its bag unused quite a bit, so I decided to participate in the 365 project [the link is for my page]and take a photo a day.I also have hardly been doing any creative editing, using textures etc, which I really enjoy, so I wanted to do the project also to inspire me to do some more creative stuff too.This is for my own satisfaction, and using photos I like, so they arent perfect, or brilliant but just for me.

I wont bombard my blog every day with the photos, but here is yesterdays photo, but I couldnt decide which I liked better so Ill post both.I think it displays my gardening skills quite well.

gosh I had a lovely day yesterday, nowhere to go, no work, nothing.the house was pretty messy, but I didnt get too fussed about it all.I just felt like doing something creative, and so I did.
Ages ago I bought these kaisercraft storage drawers, which I had opened and looked at, and that was about as far as I had got with them, so yesterday I decided to get stuck into them.I ended up making them very girly looking, and I wasnt quite sure about labelling them all, so I used these litle images which I had printed off, and I just love them.I also didnt want to paint mine, I actually like the raw color, as it looks much like kraft.very happy with them, just not exactly sure where I will keep them as I dont have my own scrap room.

I also made use of this jellybean tin which scruff got for xmas.I probably shouldnt have started it last night as I got a bit hasty[lots of glue mess] and it didnt turn out as tidy as it could have.Another girly piece too, and not sure where I will put it either, but I do like it.

fantasy frame

I was recently inspired bty sandra to create this twiddleybitz fantasy frame as a gift.Not the kind of project I normally do but it was good to do something different.A big Thankyou to janice for letting me raid her stash of prima flowers and also for the pearly bit things.Also thankyou tiff for the little flowers too, which were a gift a little while ago and thank you sandra for your input.

I am fortunate to have scrappy friends who are always there for to help when there is a scrap emergency SOS![I needed a bit of help as I dont normally do flowers and fluffy stuff].

The frame is a gify for my MIL, and I hope she likes it, it is a photo of all of her grandchildren, it is not a great photo but its the most recent photo of all her grandchildren together taken at xmas 2 or 3 yrs ago, since then our nephew died, so I think this may make her a little sad but I think she will appreciate it too.well I hope she does.[PS.I have blurred the actual kids photo a bit as I dont like splattering other peoples kids pics on the net.]

HI all, sorry no scrappy stuff to share, but I have been doing a bit of online xmas shopping and thought I would share a couple of sites with you.

Firstly is this one smiggle, which have all sorts of stationary, especially popular with girls, even teens.I was stuck on what to buy a couple of girls but managed to find some cool stuff on here, and got them a reasonable gift for @ $10.They have gift packs starting from $9.95, or select all your own bits and pieces with starting prices from .95c.They have free postage for orders over $50, but hurry as the cut off time to receive before christmas is 17th dec.Also if your purchase is a gift you can have it sent directly to the recipient.
I must confess though to spending over $50 to get the free freight, and a lot of that was for me too, not just gifts.Lots of practical things too that could be used for when the kids go back to school next year.

Also another one, and they too are offering free freight is jbhifi online.If you are stuck for a gift for someone, they have a HUGE range of dvds,cds and music dvds, games, and portable sound systems and etc etc etc.I ordered something from here and only took a few days to arrive, so happy with that.

I dont know about you guys, but I spent a few hours in Lincoln the other day looking for little gifts for xmas, and I ended up with not much, and I was bloody exhausted after jumping in and out of the car and trawling through shops, so Im loving online shopping.
Unfortunately I still need to grab a few more things in Lincoln.....wish me luck!!

On sunday we made the drive back to adelaide again, to go and see metallica.And while Im not the biggest ever fan of metallica, I really did enjoy it.I loved being able to go with my family, although jaxen chose not to come with us[he would have trouble sitting still for that long].Nick and his GF lisa had never been to anything like this before, and Nick has always liked metallica, so he loved the concert.There was lots of lights, flames and loud loud music, and it was a great performance.I loved that we could take the kids, and I hope they appreciate how lucky they are to have these opportunities.

I can remember as a child going to see kenny rogers and dolly parton [woohoo]with mum and my sister and some of my mums family.I cant really remember the concert much, but I can vaguely remember how exciting it was to be there.My parents certainly werent very financial, and my dad would never have been interested in anything like this so It would have been a huge cost for my mum to take us to something like that, I know she would have saved for months beforehand.As an adult now I realise how hard it would have been for my mum to do these things, as my dad was a drinker and my mum had to work to have her own money.

Anyway on to something lighter, I did manage to get back to marion for a bit of shopping....[well maybe more than a bit], managed a tiny bit of christmas shopping, but I couldnt resist buying this for myself

Nick and Brad have started playing mixed netty in lincoln,on tuesday nights, I usually go with them to watch and score or time, and there have been some nights where I would like to take a coffee, so this is perfect.

SO no scrapping...at all, but I hope to break the drought tomorrow!Sometimes I have the inclination, but not the time etc, or when I have the time, no inclination!Im sure you can relate...well some could Im sure.
So I have been busy lately, theres always work, then the kids sports, and other committments.
Last week we ventured to adelaide for jaxen to play sapsasa cricket, and while I find cricket quite boring at times, I did really enjoy the week.He was with a good group of kids, and there were a fair few parents and families there so there was always others to chat to.Was quite an enjoyable week, except the driving to adelaide and back, I hate that part.[and we head back over again on sunday...]
Anyway we had an enjoyable but exhausting week, and as I worked the 3 days after arriving home, Im really looking forward to having a day off tomorrow.

More paint,[which you can see was still wet when I took this pic] for some reason Ive been wanting to use pink lately, but its not something that I have a lot of in my scrapstash.And I also did HANDWRITING....omigosh something I NEVER do.I started this LO and completed it in an hour or so, which is like speedscrapping for me, and I think it was just flowing so well for me I didnt want to stop and set up the computer and printer etc, also it seemed to fit well with this layout.The different color on the bottom of the page is actually the wall, its just that the "f" extends off the page.

so while browsing dafonts, I came across the "sexy fonts"?Theyve probably been around for ages and you have probably seen them all before,but check this one HERE out! LOL, I cant imagine what anyone would want to use it for.....and I think this may have been the only one designed by a woman.

With all the canola crops flowering, around here at the moment its just gorgeous, especially with the green crops as well..I find it such a beautiful drive to lincoln or anywhere around here really as they are just everywhere.Each trip to lincoln I think I must get some photos soon, before they stop flowering, and if the warm weather that we had on the weekend sticks around it will be not too far away Im thinking.
[warm enough weather that we were visiting at a farm saturday morning and jaxen came across a big black snake while riding his motorbike...eek].

Yes I am still here!!
I have done a little creating, but not to show. I also was required to create a card recently.I had only ever made a total of 2, maybe 3 cards before, so this was a bit of a challenge for me.I did want to make a few and then get a friend to help me choose the best one.I thought I would try a few different looks, but would you believe, by the end of the day I had made a total of 11 cards.........
I have a few birthdays coming up in the next few months so they will come in handy!!

SO I had a friend text me yesterday asking if I would be able to photoshop a picture for her, as a joke for a friends birthday.Anyway for the task I needed a picture of an elderly lady in a bikini or something similar.I can recall getting humorous emails in the past of awful photos and seeing some similar to what I was after, but had never kept them, so I knew I was goiung to have to search for something on the net.I was prepared to see some not pretty images but.......WELL......you would not believe the things that come up when you type in"bikini granny", MY GOD, was just awful!!!I was in shock I can tell you!!some of the things I saw, well grannys just dont do that!!
I just couldnt look at them, so Im going to tell this friend to find the picture herself!

For last months e2c challenge, which was to scraplift a layout or be inspired by a layout.I was inspired by this one by Armance at 2 peas in a bucket.

Mine does have text covering the page but as I scanned it and there was a bit of dimension on the page it hasnt showed up well.The song I have used is 'Nothing else matters' by Metallica.I am not a huge fan of metallica but my eldest Nick is, so I am familiar with their music, sometimes in a household of teens you dont have a choice.

This song is quite special to me at the moment, as a little while ago metallica announced they would be touring australia, so I planned to try to get tickets.I actually wondered if wes [our nephew] would try to go to metallica, as wes loved playing guitar and I think he was pretty good too, he had taught himself guitar, and was a often part of a band.Of course then wes died, but this song was played at his funeral.A very emotional song at a funeral, as the lyrics "Nothing else matters', really do mean a lot!

So this LO is of my 3 boys, because obviously theyre what I love most in this whole wide world.[oh and my husband too of course].

And I did eventually get tickets to metallica, and like I say while Im not a massive fan, I really want to do things with my kids while theyre still around [meaning theyre getting older and will one day be leaving home], and also Karen D, assures me they are awesome in concert, and I reckon I can take her word for it, because shes a bit of a rock chick, and has been to a few concerts!!

oh and I have straightened up the L on the love too.

........OOPS I did mean to say thank you to sandra for a lot of the red bits and pices on this.A little while ago for my birthday sandra gave me a gorgeous little decorated tin choc full of goodies, all in my favourite colors, red, black and white!So yesterday I got my tin out and played....yummy stuff, thank you sandra, and perfect for this page!!

Tiff recently challenged a few of us girls to each scrap our wedding. For me my marriage is great and I love my husband dearly, but I would be lying if I said it has been always wonderful and perfect.As Im sure we all do,there are sometimes challenging spots in our relationship,well for us there is, and surely for others too?....[sometimes maybe?]so hence the journalling for this.

Mothers day today........
For me mothers day is not about gifts, although when the kids were little I used to love the little things they made.It always means so much more than shop bought gifts.Now the kids are older thay dont do the gift making thing anymore, but a morning coffee will do for me.

We received some tragic news last wednesday night, our nephew died in a car accident, he was only 20 years old.
So today I am really appreciating having my 3 boys home with me, and unlike most sunday mornings, Im not nagging them to clean and do jobs, Im just happy theyre here.

I am feeling for my sister in law today.

This the mini album that I made for a friend recently.A real challenge for me as I have never done one myself before,the closest Ive managed is merediths photo wallet at the e2c retreat, and Tiffs little journal from the e2c retreat the previous year.
I probably would not have done this either, but 2 scrappy friends had the idea that we each make something for a mutual scrappy friend as a gift.
It took a fair amount of thinking"what to do"?, but this is how it ended up, @ 20 of my photos, printed and adhered to kraft, and on the back of each page a white card prettied up and with a printed quote.
I laminated the pages, and had this idea of finishing it off, with a beaded charm.I had a very particular idea of what I wanted,but a little trouble finding it.Until a visit to 'Beadz on Eyre' In Port Lincoln,where I selected the beads I wanted,showed the lady something similar to what I wanted, and after an hour or so she had it done, and for a very reasonable price too.I was really happy with it,so pretty.
Then I had a silly idea of making a box for it to go in.
Messy!!but done.
Overall I was pleased with how the album turned out.

And I think I just might be venturing back to 'Beadz on eyre' sometime soon.So many prettys!

This was our 2nd weekend of footy,and we had true footy weather, with a few showers of rain and cooler temperatures .the kind of weather which has me thinking of making some pumpkin soup this week.

Yesterday was lots of washing,[footy gurnseys galore]!

I have not scrapped this week, but have been working on a project, a gift for someone, which I did manage to finish off today.

I will post some pics later on,after its in the hands of the recipient.

thanks to all concerned about the dog!! she is fine, a little subdued today, and maybe not as loving towards us, after we were so mean to her.
After such a large dose of poison the vet strongly recommended a course of treatment for her, medicine administered twice daily for the next 2 months.[pricey too.]

Today I started a layout about molly {our gorgeous staffy who we love to bits}, and spent a fair amount of time on it.Didnt get to finish it off tonight as the silly dog, hunted down some racumen [mouse bait] and ate a fair amount of it!!!!!

We dont generally use bait, just too risky with animals, but with so many mice around, scruff had made some bait stations, with bait bags inside sealed containers with holes small enough for mice only.He then put them behind heavy objects so they were not accesable to the dog.Well molly has become very zealous in her pursuit of mice lately, she seriously patrols the yard and the shed hunting mice, and we can actually hear her sniffing all around for mice, and banging around in the shed hunting them.Tonight I could hear a bit of ruckus outside, but thought it was the kids mucking around in the shed.But no, it was molly. who had managed to dislodge a bait station from behind a large piece of iron, and managed to also get the lid off and eat 2 sachets of bait!!!!luckily jaxen heard her and saw what she was doing, so after a phone call to the emergency vet, we had to pour salt water into her to induce vomiting, and get the bait up!

we succeeded, but it sure wasnt very pleasant, and Im sure molly will take some time to forgive us as to say she was less than impressed is an understatement, but it had to be done.

So we're off to the vet tomorrow for a vitamin k injection and hopefully we'll be all good!

Last weekend I had such a fantastic time at the escape 2 create retreat which you can read all about here
Such an amazing amount of effort put in by all the girls involved, just an awesome weekend overall.

I attended all the classes, which were all great.Am yet to finish mels layout and amandas [which not surprisingly has already been "rfp"] as I wasnt really happy with the print quality of my photos so will get some photos printed in lincoln next week to finish off those pages.I also need one more photo to finish merediths mini album,, but I so loved merediths little album/wallet that I did another one using different papers,and nicks formal photos to send off to my aunty.

I also did manage 2 layouts of my own, nothing too fabulous thats for sure

[maybe starting a lo at midnight,just doesnt work for me!!!..lol]

A big HUGE, MASSIVE, thankyou to the e2c team for another amazing effort, and also to the girls from my table for just being a great bunch of girls to scrap with, and talk with,eat lollys with, and laugh with.

I havnt scrapped for such a long time, partly due to the fact that my house is in absolute disarray at the moment, as my sister is painting my loungeroom and kitchen for me!she is very strange as she actually doesnt mind painting!!!I know...... how weird is that!
So sandra, I do have a messy loungeroom, but just not scrappy messy![and my scrap gear is spread all around the house too]
I am also on one of the kids sports committees, and have been a bit busy with that too the last few weeks, so I am struggling to find enough time and space to scrap.
The e2c retreat seems to be approaching very quickly so I do need to get my gear sorted.Mind you I dont think it will happen next week either, as another busy week of kids sporting events......

Time for me to get my ass into gear and get some scrapping done.Lately I just cant seem to get into it, and I was using the excuse that I needed to get some photos printed to get motivated.So I have a big stack of freshly printed photos ready to go....but its still not really happening.Last week I was in the mood, had the idea and all happening but my bloody printer jacked up because some of the ink was out, so the scrapping was abandoned[and I wasnt handwriting].
With the escape 2 create retreat fast approaching,[see over there on the right of screen, is the e2c countdown, and holy moly only 33 days to go] I really must get some creativity flowing, otherwise I will be sitting there like a stunned mullet doing a big FAT NOTHING![lol I actually mistyped and put FART then,... oops having a couple of cruisers after work..lol]!Mind you doesnt really matter if I dont do much scrapping of my own as I have signed up for all the classes on offer.We retreat goers are so very fortunate to have available classes taught by Melanie Forbes, Amanda Hall and Meredith Treloar. How lucky are we?

Anyway I did start a layout today, but really am not sure about it, will have a better look in the morning, and hopefully finish it.

We all hear of such tragedies in the news everyday,and sometimes a story will really touch you.

Today I heard the news of the tragic death of a 12 year old boy at a school,who was stabbed to death by another student aged 13years.I think maybe its because I have a 12 yr old myself, that I find myself quite upset by this news.I just keep thinking about how some poor mother and father sent their little boy off to school,and hes never going to come home.

Tonight I am feeling quite proud on one hand, and kind of a little bit apprahensive on the other!!

My eldest son Nick, finished school last november, then went to work at the local silos, where he worked long hours,and got himself up very early every morning, without prompting from us!He has worked hard to save his money for some time now, with the plan to one day buy himself a car.

He ended up with our old car when I bought my new car back in july, and has been quite happy with that.Its not too flash, but it does the job.And its a ford too, which certainly isnt his dream car!

But today he went to lincoln and he came home with one of these.

A commodoore, which all teenage boys dream of one day owning![well most anyway].

So I am extremely proud of him for working and saving his money.I believe he will appreciate his car more for the fact that he has worked hard and saved to buy it himself.

But on the other hand I do worry about car accidents, especially in the last few weeks where there has been a couple of car accidents with teenage drivers and several fatalities as a result.

Both scruff and I talk to the kids a lot about car accidents, especially lately when so many have been in the news, but I do think hes a pretty sensible kid , and I hope he continues to be.

I have been very slack as in not blogging, but really finding not a lot to blog about .Have had pretty quiet school holidays, as scruff had a knee reconstruction just before christmas.This has made it rather difficult holidays,as we havnt been able to do a lot, even a trip to the beach has been difficult as he cant walk on the rocks etc.Anyway he seems to be improving, and he has gone back to work [praise the lord].Was rather trying at times putting up with a housebound male,who was unable to do much at all,been a bit trying for us all, and not the best holidays for the kids.
Well thats the negative,but lots of positive too,christmas was good, nice and quiet and relaxed, again we didnt venture too far as the male patient was still very much the patient at that stage.When I was younger,I guess I was.. well younger and maybe more selfish,but I used to have this expectation of receiving some special gift from my husband,which I dont think EVER happened!Its just not him.One year we were away for xmas and he went to the pharmacy at the last minute and bought me some scratchies!I was less than impressed to put it mildly.
I will confess though to being just a little bit difficult to shop for, and we do have very different taste, so it is probably much more wise for me to shop for myself.
For me now, xmas is having no expectations,just enjoying and appreciating my family,and it is a day where I am extremely thankful to have my family.

These holidays,we also heard some news of the tragic death of a teenager from a nearby area.He was the same age as brad,just 16, and while I didnt know him or his family, brad and a mate have played football against him, and attended his funeral.As I said I dont know him,but I am so saddened by this!So so tragic!

I have been working also, but I am hoping things will be quieter next week , and I am hoping to get some scrapping done then.I did manage a page a while back but cant show it yet!I was planning on setting myself a challenge to scrap a page a day next week,but then realised that I think thats when we collect schoolbooks etc?,so will probably be getting that organised instead,somaybe the following weekI will manage to start my challenge.

While I havnt scrapped,I have managed a few beach trips with my camera,so I will post a few here, but if youre a friend on my FB you will probably have already seen them anyway.
Have been playing with textures and effects,some i really like but some im unsure of.

We did manage a trip to the beach today, all except 1 child who had other plans.So we had room to take the dog too!

She does love the beach and running wild with the kids.
This is the first time Ive actually got my camera to the beach, and didnt actually get to use it much as most of the time the kids were way off from where we were sitting, but I think we are in for some more warm weather this week so maybe some more beach shots soon.
Also Im sure this is really overexposed as the color looks good on my screen and pictures on here are normally really dull colored, whereas on my desktop and new laptop they are really really bright.

have had a very quiet and relaxed christmas.very idle, lots of food, [have eaten way too much].we havnt really done much. as scruff is still recuperating from his knee operation, so that has limited any beach trips!After a very lazy day today, we will hopefully head to the beach tomorrow.

We are very much in holiday mode,staying up late, and arising very late in the morning!

I would describe us as being lazyasses!

A few weeks ago we had these taken for nicks graduation.All the students had pictures taken on their own, with family, and with partners etc.Each was given a 10 minute time slot, then they all had to meet back at 6 for group shots.I wont post any of the group shots but heres a few of just us.All I can say is you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear! [is that how it goes?].What I mean by that is there are not too many photos that look that good, but no disrespect to the photographer, as I think shes done okay considering the allocated time, and also the weather, as it was drizzling off and on throughout the day, and the fact that Scruff and I are not the most photogenic of people, in most of these scruff has no eyes, only slits, and I cant smile naturally, I end looking like Im sneering!I was saying this to scruff as I was looking at the pics this arvo, and a few minutes later, lisa[nicks girlfriend], says to me that I have a lazy lip![LOL].
I look so weird in photos, I am just not used to seeing myself in pictures.Scruff and I both saw a few of these and said how yuk we look, and if you saw the rest you would agree, some really really bad ones , some with eyes shut and just really dopey ones.Speaking of dopey, my husband has been taking a fair bit of prescribed medication in the form of painkillers,[for the knee] and he is reacting very oddly at times although I guess thats a pretty common side effect.

I did make it to lincoln today, got most of the chrissy presents done, but going back tuesday to pick up brads which will be arriving tomorrow.

I Didnt get a tree, most places have sold out, and the only one I could find was at kmart and it was way too big.

May have to get e real tree for the first time ever.

christmas does manage to sneak up on me all too quickly,and I think this year Iwould have to be the least organised Ive ever been,well that is how it seems.
I have got a total of 2 presents so far,actually 3 but scruff was home when his photobook arrived in the mail,so he got that a little bit early.I do know what Im getting the boys,jaxen is who Ive already bought for,and hopefully I will get the other 2 sorted tomorrow.I find that as the kids have gotten older their choice of gifts are much more expensive.I try to spent @ the same $ for each of the kids,but it doesnt always work that way.I was planning on heading to lincoln today but plans kind of changed,so will head down tomorrow.Have heard its very busy so that will be fun Im sure.
Hoping to finally get a new tree too.

Scruff has returned home today after having a knee reconstruction on monday.He ended up having to stay an extra night in hospital, he originally thought he was in for day surgery only.[silly man].
He has a very large and sore knee, and is feeling very uncomfortable,so Ill be playing nurse for a little while,oh and the kids will be too Im sure!Couldbe in for a restless night tonight!

A friend of my sisters asked if I knew how to make an ordinary photo look as if it was taken underwater.

Ummmm no I didnt know how to do it, BUT I did google it and found a great tutorial on how to create an underwater image.The little boy was standing next to a pool, so had his goggles and floaties on.This is how it turned out, and they then had text printed onto the photo and printed them off for his 3rd birthday party invites to a pool party.

We are heading off to adelaide tomorrow morning, just me ,brad and scruff, to see these guys in concert.

!I got 5 tickets but would you believe nick and jaxen are not even remotely interested in going.Im not overly mad about seeing either of them, it was more to take the kids to a big concert I guess.At that age I would have been so excited to go to any concert,[and yes Dollly parton and Kenny Rogers in adelaide many years ago really was exciting..lol].so anyway Its just the 3 of us going and one of brads mates and his dad.Im sure scruff isnt overly mad about going either, and I know for sure he will think its just a bit too loud.While not massive fans I do like seeing bands perform live and can appreciate how talented they are.

Will hopefully get time to shop for some new curtains also while Im away, and maybe a few other bits and pieces, as I have got a new lounge.I do love getting something new, but I hate that when you do get something new, it makes the older stuff in your house look really.....old! And also navy blue and chocolate brown just do not go together at all!So its time for a new paint job and a bit of a redo for the loungeroom. Must go find the addresses for spotlight shortly and pop it into the navman tomorrow when we are on our way.Im really not looking forward to the drive over to adelaide and back, ist soo boring!And the packing too....tomorrow morning Ill get started on that.

been awhile seen Ive posted, have been a little bit preoccupied with other stuff!
So my eldest nick graduated from school a couple of weeks week, [at an assembly on that really really stinking hot day].We went to nicks graduation dinner on Friday night, and we had some family photos taken by the photographer, so hopefully we actually manage to get a decent picture of us all, just 1 would be good![even though jaxens hair was poking up like some freaky animal is perched atop his head].I did take my camera and was hoping to get some shots, but didnt manage too many as was very aware of the professional photographer and didnt want to be rude by snapping away while she was.[and these are not very good spics either.
Will post a family shot later....if there are any decent ones!

A friend of mine asked if I could take some photos of her daughter.It was wonderful to have a willing model[so different to my boys].I dragged her around a bit to get some different shots in different settings.These are a few that Ive played with so far.

Was a terrible day weather wise today, extremely hot and windy, but the sky was so beautiful tonight, such spectacular colors,I had to get my camera to take a few shots.These are straight out of the camera, I havnt enhanced the colors at all.

I have started some chrissy shopping just yesterday...well one pressie anyway.I also did a photo book online today for scruff for christmas, of our trip to darwin at the beginning of the year.My goodness did that take some time to do today, a few hours actually.I think also by the end I was getting over it, and I think I forgot to edit the text boxes on the last couple of pages.oops. so will have to come up with an idea to cover them when it arrives.Some rubons or something maybe.
I also finally did a layout, although it is a digital, [much less messy].This is for the color challenge over on the E2C blog.

Its about being a big sister, and is how Im feeling towards my little sister at the moment, who was here for a visit recently, but has been unwell since she returned home and is going through some issues in her life as well atm.

I am so over our extremely hot summers.Yesterday we hit 40 here, and quite a few more days of the same yet to come.I am working in the deli kitchen on saturday and sunday, and so not looking forward to the heat while working.

Not that Im meaning to whinge, and we are lucky to have airconditioning, but at times like these I do think of relocating to tassie during the summer!

Must go as a quick trip to lincoln, heading off early and hoping to be back by lunchtime.....hopefully!

I finished this page,for the twine challenge on E2C which I started a while ago. I think its finished, Im resisting the urge to do just a bit of stitching.Its not too often that Im in a photo,let alone with any of the kids, so some time ago when jako was home on his own with me one day, I conned him into doing these.

Havnt scrapped much as wednesday in Lincoln, I did manage to get the other 2 books in the series Im reading.Started the 2nd that night and about to have a bath and finish reading it shortly, only a little bit to go so shouldnt take too long!I did start to scrap a page yesterday for amandas challenge on E2C, but Im afraid my book was calling.

Have been playing a bit with actions and textures in photoshop, and this is one photo that I really like.

The kids were in the front yard playing cricket today, and jaxen was in the driveway, where they get a run up to bowl , when he heard a noise and looked around to see a rather good sized snake behind him!SO glad scruff was home to chase after it and dispose of it.Im afraid if Scruff hadnt have been here, I would have just freaked,hustled the kids inside and locked the door.Im just hopeful that it didnt have any other companions nearby.

I did go to get the camera out to get a photo of the deceased, but brad did say that was kind of creepy, so I didnt worry about it!!

After reading about this on caities blog http://caitieandjohn.blogspot.com/ I purchased the first one on thursday and have just finished reading it today.Havnt read anything for a while, and did like this, so looking forward to getting into the next 2.Just have to wait till one day this week when I can get to lincoln to get the 2nd and 3rd ones.

Working tomorrow so best be off to bed now, especially as I was soaking in the tub until 2.30 am this morning as I decided to read some of the book, and then didnt want to stop.And yes I was very wrinkly when I did get out and cold too.

I got this today, and am listening to and watching quiclkly while I get ready for work. IM LOVING IT.Reccomend anyone who went to see her, or just a fan gets it.It was filmed in sydney.Was under $20 so a bargain !!!

I did say I would scrap today, and I did manage to get a grand total of 1 layout completed.pretty plain, but basically thats what I wanted.This page is about how I got the nickname dongy.Again took me longer than planned , as fart assed around between the laptop, and the desktop, and sometimes computers just dont do what they should do.Notice I did get to use some pink!that was different!
Also had a bit of a sort through my photos and albums, and omigosh that was a task. actually most of it is still in piles on the loungeroom floor [tomorrows job].I have some of my old photos that I have mutilated, as when I first tried scrapping the oval cutters were all the go, so many of them have been cut into ovals.Also writing on the photos...my gosh why did I do it!!So annoyed that I did that.I also have some really really tragic pages,that I did when I first began to dabble with scrapping, they are so bad that I think I will attempt to redo them....but such a big job that will be....so maybe someday.Not that I think my pages are wonderful or anything like it but I do think I have improved since I did those.
Anyway looks like another crap day tomorrow, and Im not working till friday, so maybe another layout tomorrow.

the kids are back to school tomorrow, and much as I love them and enjoy the freedom of school holidays, I am really looking forward to having the house to myself for the day.I also have intentions to scrap, as the weather is terrible,

coffins today

Took jaxen and a couple of friends down to coffins today for a game of putt putt, then down to look for some crabs.That was brief, the boys spent as much time wrestling on the lawn.

Had a bit of a drive around coffins before coming home, and saw some emus and a mob of kangaroos in the town near some new homes.We were parked right near them, and they didnt even budge.werent wary of us at all.

these holidays have seen me trying to have a bit of a cleanup around the house, getting rid of some of those things you no longer use but still stash away in the cupboard "just in case".

I have also had a quick sort through my magazine stash most of which are scrap mags, and have been quite harsh in my clear out of them.Many have had to go, as I have way way too many.I cant help it, I just have to keep buying them.

So my car is loaded and off they go to the op shop. It does hurt, just a little!Think I might even attack the linen cupboard and the kitchen cupboards in the next couple of days.

Theres a house at the end of our street, which is being renovated.This guy must belong to one of the builders there, and has been popping down to our house for visits.I must say when I first saw him I did think he must be the ugliest dog Ive ever seen.

But hes been hanging around a little bit loves drinking out of the bird bath and has had a snack on mollys biscuits.He seems to be such a big gentle creature, so quiet and placid, that now Im thinking hes so ugly and awkward looking that hes just a little bit cute...well sorta kinda....a teeny little bit.

A trip to licoln today...a very very slow one, as brad drove, his first lengthy drive on his Ls.While filling in time before the movies took jaxen and his mate down to the beach for a while.Just playing with some of my digital supplies which I purchased recently from designer digitals.

I have had these papers for a little while now, loved them but just havnt had any ideas on how to use them.I determined today that I was going to do a page and utilise some of my must have paper purchases.Again not quite how I planned it to end up, and holy crap its so "LOUD".
Feels good to scrap. and I may even get strted on another this evening.

Attemted a layout, nothing like I wanted it to turn out, and spent ages procrastinating over it.I wanted it to be a nice and simple page, but has ended up being busier than I wanted.

Dont know if its because Im not scrapping often enough or what but whenever I start a page it just doesnt happen how I plan it to, and Im not happy with the finished page.Think Ill attempt another tomorrow.

My nick turned 18 today.Im feeling rather sad about this, I just wish I could press stop and keep them here with me forever.

Im also feeling quite middle aged, and am showing it too, with more greys appearing .[partly due to having teenage children].

I feel very blessed and grateful to have 3 great kids.[well most of the time].
